About Dolfin Swim School...

Welcome to Dolfin Swim School of Dallas, where our program is KIDS FIRST! We are the Park Cities and Preston Hollow's leading swim school, providing nurturing swimming lessons for all ages, from infants to adults. Our approach to swim instruction emphasizes safety, skill-building and fun. Read a detailed article on our approach to learning to swim by clicking here.

It all begins with building a strong bond of trust between the swimmer and the instructor. From this start, we add a carefully structured learning environment that allows the swimmer to be relaxed and comfortable around the water. Next, we add innovative teaching methods to keep learning fun and shorten the learning curve. Finally, we present knowledge and skills in a logical teaching progression so that one success builds upon another.

From orientation to becoming a skilled "Dolfin" swimmer, we guide the swimmer's progress using consistent methods, skills, and instructional techniques. In addition, our competitive swimming team has won two Dallas Amateur Swimming Association championships. Please follow this link to read about Dolfin's divisional championship in Dallas competitive swimming.

Our swim instructors employ effective team strategies, where swimmers, parents, and instructors work together to maximize the benefits of formal instruction. Parents are taught to reinforce the concepts and skills presented by the instructor. Students are motivated to practice every day through fun land drills and bathtub exercises.

Founder Linda DeSanders established Dolfin Swim School in 1989. Her commitment to quality instruction arose from the personal experiences she had as a result of her interest in aquatics. As a child, she completed all of the swimming and water safety courses offered by the American Red Cross at the time and went on to compete as a springboard diver in high school. These experiences strongly shaped her vocational interest as she went on to receive a B.A. from SMU in Physical Education.

Linda taught Aerobic Dancing and later became a franchised Jazzercise instructor. She was also an all-level P.E. teacher. In 1981, Linda started swimming on a Masters swim team.

She has extensive teaching experience with all ages and abilities in swimming, but has specialized in infants and toddlers. She has two sons - Scott and Spencer - whom she began teaching at the age of 2 months. Dolfin's kids swimming lessons continue to be in high demand for parents in the Park Cities and Preston Hollow looking for excellent, personalized swim instruction.
